Soundhound

Medium maturity Android (also iOS)Apps that recognise recordedmusic from a snippet of a track have become a useful tool forsmartphone users. No longer do you have to trawl the internet tofind the name of a track you half heard on the radio two weeks ago.Now you can just whip out your smartphone and tag the track withinseconds.

SoundHound takes it a step further. Not only will it recogniseradio-friendly tunes but, unlike other apps, you can even hum thetune yourself to see if you get a hit. How accurate this is varies -usually according to your singing skills - but more often than notit returned the correct result.

Instant music search has also become a little easier thanks tovoice recognition, which allows you to search for tracks by title orartist name. You get results back that include lyrics, YouTubevideos, reviews and artist biographies.

There's a free, ad-supported version, but if you'd rather ditchthe advertising, you can upgrade to the paid version for a littlemore than [euro]3.50.
