Fed: FTA with US could be done by early 2004: Oxley
CANBERRA, Feb 24 AAP - A free trade deal between Australia and the United States couldbe worked out by early next year, a trade specialist said today.
A former chairman of the General Agreement on Trade and Tariffs council, Alan Oxley,said talks between the two countries were already progressing well.
He said a lengthy phone conference between American and Australian officials aboutthe proposed free trade agreement (FTA) indicated negotiations were going faster thananticipated.
