A CAPITAL DILEMMA.(PERSPECTIVE)(Editorial)

The mere sight of Keshon Everett, the federal felon accused of murdering the beloved Albany police Lt. John Finn in a gunfight that followed a South End convenience store robbery, in court last week was the inevitable occasion when the emotionally wrenching debate about the death penalty got that much harder.

The argument is made already that if anyone ever deserved to be executed, as is again permitted under state law, it's Mr. Everett. He's accused of killing Lt. Finn in a senseless burst of gunfire that's been portrayed on this very page as a crime against the dignity of an entire city.
