Fed: Peter Cundall to leave Gardening Australia in 2008
You know what to do .. hang up yer pruning shears .. and that's yer bloomin' lot!
Hard to believe .. but after almost 40 years on Australian TV .. Gardening Australia
host PETER CUNDALL has announced next year will be his last.
CUNDALL has been broadcasting weekly on ABC TV and radio since 1969 .. and has presented
the popular gardening show for the past 17 years.
After celebrating his 80th birthday with family .. friends and colleagues in an episode
of Gardening Australia .. he's announced 2008 will be his last year on the show.
He says he's never stopped enjoying every bloomin' moment of every episode .. but 2008
is a good time to move over for someone else and change direction a little.
But he says he has no intention of retiring .. because there are too many interesting
and exciting things to do.
He says he'll keep on writing books and articles .. teaching .. lecturing and intensifying
his environmental activities.
CUNDALL was recognised for his work in gardening, the environment and social issues
last year when he was made a member of the Order of Australia.
